The place

Sheepfold owned by the Département de l'Isère, located at 1693 m in the Réserve naturelle nationale des Hauts Plateaux du Vercors. Occupied by a shepherd during the summer grazing season, closed the rest of the year — no guarantee of finding shelter here. Nearest water point at the Fontaine des Endettés. Reserve regulations: dogs (even on leash), fires and camping are prohibited; bivouacking tolerated only from 5 pm to 9 am; foraging and fossil collecting are forbidden. Access from the Refuge de Pré Peyret heading east then north-east, up the Plaine de la Queyrie to the Carrières Romaines, then a cairned path due south.
