The place

Sheepfold at 1920 m on the Hauts Plateaux du Vercors (Drôme), in the Nature Reserve. About a day's walk from l'Essaure, accessible from the plateaus via the GR — the sheepfold is no longer on the GR. Owned by a shepherd who reserves it from June to September but leaves part of it open for emergency shelter. Undergoing full renovation as of October 2024 — sleeping unavailable during the works. Dogs prohibited in the reserve (fires, camping, picking, fossils, litter also prohibited; bivouacking tolerated with tent pitched after 5pm, taken down before 9am).
