The place

The Bergerie de Galghello is an old Corsican sheepfold at 1632 m altitude in the municipality of Corscia (Haute-Corse), occasionally maintained as a shelter for hunters and shepherds. It has 3 basic foam mattresses on old bed frames, some crockery, and a roof in poor condition. A water source lies a few meters below, in a grassy area. Access from Corscia via the trail that passes the old Liccioghia sheepfold, then a steep climb to the northeast through the maquis with a few cairns up to a ridge marked with a cross, then a descent to the northwest on a good forest trail toward Galghello. Also accessible from the Ile-Rousse-Corte trail at the Col de Serra Piana pass.
