The place

Sheepfold at 1836 m in the Vercors (Isère). Access from Le Clos de la Balme (1230 m) via Corrençon, a marked trail heading south toward the Pas de la Balme: the sheepfold is to the right of the trail, facing the Tête des Chaudières. Occupied in summer and closed the rest of the time. A small adjoining room under the same roof can serve as a basic shelter for a meal, with no sleeping option. On the left side of the entrance, an open lean-to serves as an emergency shelter with little space and possible snow drifts.
