The place

Self-service DNT hut of the Aust-Agder Turistforening in the Setesdal Austhei, between Bykle and Hovden, at 1,000 m altitude. 18 bunks spread between the main building and the emergency shelter. About 6 km from Berdalsbru on national road 9. Red-marked trail from the car park, crossing forest and marshy ground; a 2-hour walk to reach the hut (wet feet likely), with a steep final climb of 200 m and fine views to the west above the treeline. Marked winter trails to Tjørnbrotbu (5 h north) and Bjørnevasshytta (5 h south).
