The place
Historic DOC hut with 6 bunks at 1,237 m in Arthur's Pass National Park (Canterbury, NZ). Built in 1925 by Walter Taylor and Harry Faulkner as a mustering base for Cora Lynn Station (around 6,000 sheep). Beech-frame construction, corrugated-iron cladding, timber floor, natural light through a roof panel. Canvas bunks strung on beech poles, tank water, long-drop toilet, open fireplace. Bring your own bedding. A fine example of a period musterer's hut, in a clearing in beech forest. Free access.

Built in 1925 by Walter Taylor and Harry Faulkner for mustering at Cora Lynn Station (~6,000 sheep). Use ceased in 1978 when the land was handed back to Arthur's Pass National Park.
