The place

Sleeping places planned: 5 Places on mattress: 8 No water nearby, a stove, wood nearby and a substantial reserve in the shelter, five metal beds, 8 mattresses, a table, 2 benches, 2 chairs, an armchair, two shovels with no handle, two brooms, a battered bench seat with three (2 1/2?) blankets. Latrines: small shed 50 m from the refuge, to the SSE. Very good condition, fitted out in a former battery/fort. 2022 info: Refuge renovated in 2019 * GSM network: good reception (2 or 3 bars - Orange) inside the shelter. * From St Alban in 1h30, from Montendry in 2h or less by driving up the forest road to near the shelter (less than 10 minutes) or from Les Granges in 2 h (steep path). The ridge between the shelter and the Col du Petit Cucheron (1228 m) has a few somewhat exposed sections. Warning! Situation as of 8 February 2022: Access from Montendry is limited to the 750 m between the village and the second "hairpin bend" of the forest road: beyond that it is blocked by a series of fallen trees...
