Barker Hut

The place

Standard 10-bunk DOC hut in Arthur's Pass National Park (Canterbury), at 1,531 m. Managed by the Canterbury Mountaineering Club (CMC), an alpine memorial. Free for CMC members; non-members: check the CMC website. Standard Backcountry Hut Passes do not apply. Mountain radio service closed — carry a PLB beacon and check the weather before setting out. Take care at unbridged river crossings.
