The place
Forest hut at 321 m in the Bärenbrunner valley, in the Dahner Felsenland (Palatinate Forest, Rhineland-Palatinate), a few kilometers beyond Dahn. A roughly 3 km valley planted with pines, lined with the red-brown sandstone crags typical of the Palatinate, a favorite spot for the local climbing community (Bärenbrunner Schandariefelsen sector, DAV-listed). The neighboring Bärenbrunnerhof, a listed historic hotel-restaurant, marks the far end of the valley. The shelter serves as a stop for hikers and climbers passing through.
