The place

Forest hut at 730 m in the Vercors (Isère). Access by parking at "Combe Louve" (hiking sign) at the end of the paved road linking Saint-Paul-de-Varces to the hamlet of Les Mallets. Continue on foot along the forest track and just after crossing a footbridge over the l'Echarine stream, climb a trail on the right. Formerly maintained by the ONF of Saint-Paul-de-Varces. Fairly good insulation, door that closes well, broken windows replaced with sturdy wood panels. Furniture limited to two chairs and a table in the first room, plus a broom, a shovel, two candle holders, a guestbook. Second room with a stove unfortunately not working (not connected). 4 to 5 sleeping places on a concrete floor.
