The place

Small, clean hut at 1820 m (altitude engraved on the stone lintel at the entrance), in the Taillefer-Matheysine (Isère). Accessible in 1h45 from the waterfall via comfortable trails, sitting on a small flat terrace at a bend in the path coming from La Morte (via the waterfall and the via ferrata start) that climbs to the Crête de Brouffier. No ladder to climb up to the very low beams, sleeping more than two people seems difficult. Excellent condition in June 2024, good firewood supply (recently replenished). Warning: the whole combe is impassable with snow — a critical safety consideration in winter.
