The place
Swiss Alpine Club hut managed by the Altels section, set at 1,956 m above Kandersteg in the Bernese Oberland. Unstaffed most of the time, it is occasionally operated in summer by volunteers. Twenty dormitory places in summer and eight in the winter room. A base for the Balmhorn tour and trips to the Schwarenbach and the Altels. Equipped kitchen, half-board possible during staffed periods; dogs admitted on request.

Access from Kandersteg station in about 3 h walking, 750 m elevation gain. Marked hiking trail.
