Bayern · Allemagne0 mGuardedVerified listing

The place

A traditional pastoral alp in the Ostrachtal, a side valley of Bad Hindelang in the Oberallgäu (Bavaria, Germany). Located at about 1,024 m, in the renowned cheese-making area of Bad Hindelang, where the Baldauf family has produced "Baldaufkäse" since 1862 — an iconic cheese of the Allgäu Alps with various ageing levels, as well as Wildblumen- and Allgäuer Butterkäse cheeses. The Ostrachtal offers hikers a fascinating variety of natural landscapes and alpine experiences, with well-marked trails leading from Bad Hindelang to the Willersalpe through dense forests, flowering alpine meadows and crystal-clear streams (marked stream — Bachlauf ausgeschildert). The region is known for the richness of its alpine cheeses, its transhumance paths and its preserved pastoral fabric of the Tannheimer Berge - Schochen - Iseler.
