The place
Baite at 1874 m in the Valle Camonica (province of Brescia, Lombardy, Italy) — one of the largest valleys in the central-eastern Alps, straddling the provinces of Bergamo and Brescia. The first Italian site inscribed in 1979 on the UNESCO World Heritage List for its rich ancient petroglyphs, carved into the valley's rocks. A typical mid-altitude alpine setting in the lower Camonica valley, Cìgola area, a simple stopover for hikes and for observing pastoral heritage.
