The place
The Baita del Luca is a cabin of the Swiss Alpine Club, Ticino section, set at 1060-1070 m on a broad grassy slope above Sonvico (commune of Lugano), at the foot of the Denti della Vecchia. It offers 16 beds spread across rooms of 4 and 12, a dining room with a gas stove and fireplace, hot water and shower, and solar lighting. Luca Sganzini's family supported its construction in memory of this sport-climbing pioneer, who died in Morocco in 1979. Open from 1 May to 31 October. Access in 20 minutes from Sonvico.
