The place
Self-catering hut (Selbstversorgerhütte) at 1166 m in Riezlern in the Kleinwalsertal (Vorarlberg, Austria), at the junction between the Bavarian Allgäu and the Austrian Alps. Basic facilities: bunk beds, a cold-water tap fed by a mountain stream, and two wood stoves, one of which also serves for cooking. Unstaffed; bring your own food, bedding and crockery. A good base for hiking to the Mittlerer Kackenkopf (1558 m), just 1.1 km away, and for climbing the Hoher Ifen.
