Standard-category DOC hut with five bunks (one under the roof, barely usable according to user reports) at 336 m in Te Urewera (Bay of Plenty/East Coast), at the end of the track where the Apiti Stream meets the Opaewai and Mangaawai streams. Check before setting out: since 2022, Te Uru Taumatua (the operational entity of Ngāi Tūhoe) has been progressively removing 44 huts from Te Urewera, and DOC now redirects its Te Urewera pages to this joint inventory.
