The place

Unstaffed Troms Turlag (DNT) cabin at the head of the Østerdal valley, on the shore of Lake Altevatnet in Bardu municipality. Total capacity of about 17 beds: 14 bunks spread across 3 rooms in the main building plus a loft, and 3 additional bunks in a dog annex. Open year-round, accessible by car in all seasons via 40 km of road from Setermoen on the E6 to Innset, then 200 m on foot. Locked with a special DNT key plus a code lock; at least one member of the group must be a DNT member. Advance booking required to obtain the code. Wood heating, gas cooking, basic kitchen equipment, sleeping bags and sheets to be brought, outdoor toilets.
