Almagellerhütte
The place
The Almagellerhütte is a Swiss Alpine Club hut, Niesen section, set at 2894 m altitude in the Wysstal above Saas-Almagell, in Valais. Built in 1984, it can accommodate 120 people in dormitories. It lies at the southern foot of the Weissmies (4017 m), the highest point of the Weissmies-Lagginhorn-Fletschhorn trio, and serves as the classic base camp for alpine climbs and rock climbing in the area. Access from Saas-Almagell via the Almagelleralp (T2, 3h30 walk, 1220 m elevation gain).
