The place

Unstaffed Hamar og Hedemarken Turistforening cabin in the Åstdalen valley, municipality of Ringsaker, 3 km south of Kvarstadsætra and 35 km from Brumunddal by road, passable year-round. Eight beds across two sleeping areas, kitchen equipped with propane, solar panels, wood-burning stove. Duvets and pillows provided, bring your own sheets. Outdoor toilet accessible by ramp. Standard DNT operation: pre-booking possible or via the DNT app on arrival. Fishing allowed outside the protection window of 15 September - 15 October; swimming in the nearby tjern, skiing in winter, trails to Nysæteråsen via a suspension bridge. Closed mid-summer (week 26) for a youth camp.
