The place

Адмиральский ("Admiral") in the Republic of Khakassia, Sayanogorsk/Cheremushki area (western Sayan, southern Siberia, Russia), at 1060 m elevation, in the foothills of the Western Sayan. Continuous southern Siberia Russia cluster (batches 260-337). A hunting or climbers' cabin ("Admiral" a Soviet-era peak or place-name nickname), in a zone of dark Sayan taiga (Abies sibirica + Picea obovata + Pinus sibirica, Siberian pine, with edible cones), near the Sayano-Shushenskaya Hydroelectric Plant (arch dam, 242 m, Russia's largest, 6400 MW, site of the 17 August 2009 disaster when a turbine exploded, killing 75), and reflecting the heritage of the Khakas people (an eastern Turkic people, 63,000 speakers of Khakas, with shamanism preserved in the Sayan).
