Abri sous le Chardonnet
The place
Unstaffed shelter set at 1,306 m in the Bauges massif (Savoie / Haute-Savoie), Chardonnet sector — limestone relief of the Massif des Bauges Regional Nature Park. The site also includes a related water point (Chardonnet chalet, listed on the area's routes). A basic, free-access stop along the mid-mountain trails linking the massif's high plateaus. An exceptional setting in the limestone Prealps: karst ridges, summer pastures, fir forests, landscapes typical of the Regional Nature Park, part of the UNESCO Global Geopark network since 2011. Iconic Massif des Bauges wildlife: chamois (reintroduced population), ibex, mouflons, black grouse, golden eagle. Located close to the Reposoir area and the trails linking the Chéran and Sierroz valleys. Conditions of use to be confirmed with the local manager before any visit.
