The place

Former Italian military shelter at 2688 m, on the France-Italy border in the Mercantour. Multi-room building, but the main room (the only one fitted with a fireplace) no longer exists following the collapse of the roof. Upper room with a makeshift table of salvaged wood, but the structure is unstable; below it, a formerly stable storage room now filled with debris (scrap metal, plastic, asbestos, fuel drums). Remains of the old French shelter nearby with walls in reasonable condition but no roof. Unusable and dangerous; visitors strongly advise against it.
