The place

Winter shelter 50 m from the Lac d'Aubert car park, halfway to the dam, at 2160 m in the Réserve naturelle du Néouvielle (Hautes-Pyrénées, Bigorre). Sleeps 12 in winter across 3 levels of 4 mattresses, a large communal table, gear lockers for 12 people, and about a dozen blankets. No fireplace. Water from the stream feeding the Lac d'Aubert, behind the car park. Open from 31 October to 31 May — closed in summer due to the car park being at capacity. Essential for the winter ascent of the Pic de Néouvielle. Assigned to the National Park rangers.
