Abri du col de Portes

The place

Well-built shelter at the Col de Portes at 550 m in the Cévennes massif (Gard, Cévennes National Park — buffer zone). Former shelter with a large doorless opening, tiled floor, fireplace, water and toilet. Current status (December 2024): the shelter is no longer accessible — one part has been converted into toilets, the other completely closed off (openings sealed with metal partitions). No longer to be considered a stopover.
