Abri du col de la Louïe Blanche

The place

Basic shelter in a former Italian military fortification at 2557 m, a few metres below the Col de la Louïe Blanche (2567 m), Italian side (Aosta Valley). On the route linking Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise to the Albert Deffeyes refuge via the Bellacomba lakes. Open to the four winds but covered by a concrete slab. Basic and gloomy, but can serve as shelter during a storm since it's far from any other building. Access from Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise via the La Savonne road (as for the Ruitor refuge), then climb to the pass in about 2h30 — path in good condition at the start, which disappears past the 1995 m spot height on the IGN map.
