The place
Emergency shelter ("Villa des Myrtilles") set at 1083 m in the Jura massif, in the Lac-des-Rouges-Truites area, right next to (1.36 km) the Domaine du Bugnon — a campsite and gîte d'étape at 934 m. Not recommended for overnight stays. Minimal equipment: table, benches, stove. Reported to be in poor condition according to recent visitor feedback: broken window (the shutter that helps keep out the wind), a problematic stove with disconnected pipes that fills the interior with smoke, benches that are a bit wobbly but usable. The floor provides some insulation from the cold. Better suited to a short break than an overnight stay. Set in the forested landscape of the Haut-Jura: fir forests, peat bogs, scenery typical of the Parc naturel régional du Haut-Jura, home to emblematic wildlife such as the capercaillie, the Eurasian lynx and the Jura chamois. An emergency stopover on the trails linking Lac-des-Rouges-Truites to the Risoux ridges.
