The place

Small emergency shelter at 1475 m at the Col de la Samblue (Dévoluy, Hautes-Alpes), attached to the larger Refuge de la Samblue. Breeze-block construction with a wooden frame and steel-sheet roof. No insulation, some draughts on the lower part of the roof. In the middle of a picnic area. Inside: a 1-person sleeping platform below and a 2-person sleeping platform above with mattresses, a table, an armless chair; cramped but dry and slightly dusty space. Nearest water point: Source des Baumes (1 km, flat). Capacity 3 places.
