The place

Very old structure at 1825 m in the Cerdagne (Pyrénées-Orientales), probably recently rebuilt as it is in perfect condition. Traces of fires in the hearth and continued use by shepherds. Layout and materials probably from the late 19th century — it may have served as a shelter for hikers coming from Font-Romeu. Very well built with carefully cut stones, certainly very old, vegetated roof. Table and bench inside, room of about 2 m × 2 m. Access from Les Escaldes (between Dorres and Angoustrine) via the GRP Tour du Carlit to a 4x4 forestry track, then follow the track that climbs on the left for 1 km.
