The place

Large shelter in dressed stone at 560 m, on the GR 53 and GR 532, 300 m north of the Col du Pigeonnier, next to the ruins of the old Tour de Scherhol, commune of Wissembourg (Bas-Rhin, Vosges du Nord). Built through the efforts and funding of the Wissembourg section of the Club Vosgien, with authorisation from the Bezirkspresident of Bas-Rhin dated 13 February 1906. Bright interior room in pink sandstone, small adjoining room with a wooden floor, a stove, a table and several benches (15 seats); floor sleeping for 8 to 10 people. In very good condition as it is regularly visited and maintained by the wardens of the Pigeonnier refuge further down at the col.
