Abri de la Taverne
The place
Basic wooden shelter, very small, well built, located at the trailside. The floor, originally bare earth, fairly uneven with some loose stones, has been covered with a wooden deck. 1 bench running the whole length of the shelter, a small table, and a folding bench built into the wall (saves space). That's it, the bare minimum, and it's not bad at that! Note: the hut has no door, so only 3 of its 4 sides are enclosed. A hut best suited for a picnic or for taking shelter from rain. As for sleeping there, it's possible, but it'll be on the ground with bare-bones comfort. At best room for 3 people, and that's a stretch. The spot stays in the shade for a long time in winter. Located north of the Plateau de Beauregard, a bit off the traditional walking routes that criss-cross the plateau. Access from the Col de la Croix Fry or from Thônes, summer and winter alike. Hut managed by the town of Thônes (as noted on the hut's front).
