️ Survival Shelter on the Banks of the Rivière Bleue The survival shelter on the banks of the Rivière Bleue is a temporary refuge located near the DZ (helicopter rescue landing zone). With capacity for 4 sleeping places, this shelter is new, fully weatherproof and sheltered from the wind. Just 100 m from the shelter, you'll find a lovely swimming spot at the Corne du Diable. It's an ideal solution while waiting for the GR refuges to be completed. That said, it can be hard to find flat ground nearby to pitch a tent. To reach the shelter, shuttle buses run from the Pont Pérignon, at a cost of 400 CFP. These shuttles take you to the start of the trail leading to the Rivière Bleue shelter. It's recommended to check departure times by phone beforehand. Note that crossing the Rivière Bleue can be tricky in rainy weather, since the zipline once installed to help with the crossing is no longer operational. Hopefully it will soon be replaced by a secure footbridge. For hikers, it's possible to reach the Abri des Fougères via the GR-NC1 in 3 to 4 hours of walking.
