Abri de l 'Ungerthal
The place
Shelter at 420 m at the Col de l'Ungerthal in the Northern Vosges (Bas-Rhin), at the junction of several GR trails. Average condition, no fireplace or barbecue (fires forbidden). Table and bench on the ground floor, possible to sleep upstairs but the ladder attached to the right side of the hut has gone missing (still absent as of a May 2025 visit). Poor insulation. Capacity 4 people. Spring about 1 km away at the Col de l'Holdereck. Access via forest track from Zinswiller.
Getting there
L'abri se situe à un carrefour de sentiers (GR et circuits du Club Vosgien) au niveau d'un col, atteignable par une route forestière au départ du village de Zinswiller (Bas-Rhin). Un point d'eau existe près du col de Holdereck, à environ un kilomètre de marche supplémentaire.
The setting
L'abri est implanté en forêt, dans le massif des Vosges du Nord, sur le territoire du Parc naturel régional des Vosges du Nord, un massif gréseux boisé classé réserve de biosphère UNESCO.
