The place

Shelter at 926 m on the shore of the Etang du Devin lake (Hautes-Vosges, Vosges/Alsace border). Former First World War pumping station converted into a hiker's shelter. Interior more welcoming than it looks, fitted with a table and a concrete bench. Camping prohibited nearby. The Etang du Devin gîte d'étape is about 300 m from the refuge at 950 m, reachable on foot or by mountain bike via the GR 5.
