The place

Three-wall shelter in very good condition. According to the inscription carved on a beam, it dates from 2011. Fitted with a large table with a bench on each side and two more benches along the side walls, it comfortably accommodates about ten people. The back wall has a built-in fireplace for barbecuing (grill present). Its orientation exposes it to full sun between 12pm and 2pm, which is welcome in cold weather. 15 minutes away is the Gazon Vert waterfall as well as the old Gazon Vert farm shelter, which has a tap water point (shut off in winter). From the Rouge Gazon car park, take the GR531 (blue rectangle) towards the Col des Perches. At the Col des Perches, turn left onto the miners' path (yellow circle). The path descends to a pass between the Rambachkopf and the Essenbachkopf, where the shelter is located. It can also be reached from the Col du Rambach by following the forest track parallel to the GR5 leading to Gazon Vert. Also possible from Rouge Gazon by descending to Gazon Vert via a discovery trail (red rectangle crossed with white) then joining the shelter from Gazon Vert via the forest track leading to the Col du Rambach.
