Abri de berger du col de Chérel

The place

Pastoral shelter at 1495 m at the col de Chérel, in the Bauges massif, on the GR de pays du Tour de l'Arcalod. Open structure, exposed to wind, with a simple latch door (no padlock possible). Outside: table and bench. Inside: bare concrete or earth floor, no furniture or bedding — bring a mat and sleeping bag. Watering trough nearby but no water source. Unused in winter until at least mid-April. Motor vehicles, bivouacking and camping prohibited. Access from the south via the Précherel car park, from the north via the Combe d'Ire car park (after Chevaline) on the forest track.
