The place

Free hut (autiotupa) managed by Metsähallitus in the Käsivarsi wilderness area (Finland's second-largest nature reserve, 2,206 km², established in 1991), Enontekiö municipality (Finnish Lapland). Located on the shore of a pond on the western branch of the Aatsajoki. Ten sleeping places, a stove for heating; no fireplace, no gas. Free, shared accommodation, first come first served. Maintained by experienced volunteers in April; out of service from 15 to 30 April for roof work.
