The place

High-mountain bivouac hut of the Swiss Alpine Club at 2,731 m at the foot of the Lauteraarhorn, in the municipality of Guttannen (Bern), managed by the SAC Pilatus section. Unstaffed shelter with seventeen places, equipped with an emergency radio and cooking utensils (stove and gas cartridges to bring yourself). Nestled in the middle of a glacial cirque, it serves as a base camp for demanding ascents of the Lauteraarhorn, Finsteraarhorn and Studerhorn, as well as for the traverses to Strahleggpass-Schreckhornhütte, Finsteraarjoch and Agassizjoch.

Getting there

Access from the Grimsel Hospiz in 6-7 h, about sixteen kilometers via the Unteraar and Finsteraar glaciers.
