#### The Via Alpina: A Paradise for Hikers The Via Alpina crosses the Alps from Trieste to Monaco, linking the alpine countries via a network of long-distance hiking trails. It is a transnational adventure that offers dazzling panoramas and a commitment to preserving the mountain environment. #### Red Route of the Via Alpina: From Maloja to Juf This route is part of the main red trail of the Via Alpina, which stretches through breathtaking alpine landscapes. #### Route Details Start: Maloja, after a short walk on the main road heading east. Junction: At Plan di Zoch, the trail meets the 'Senda Segantini (25)' and follows the same path to the Septimer pass. Climb: Continuous ascent to Lake Lunghin, located in a small natural depression. Point of interest: The source of the Inn, which later flows into the Danube. Remarkable views: From the Lunghin pass, we have an exceptional panorama over the Val Bregaglia. #### Ascent and Descent in the Alps After contemplating the Piz Lunghin, our route leads us through the historic Septimer and Forcellina passes, then steeply down into the Juferrhein valley. #### Discovering Juf: An Exceptional European Village Altitude: 2,226 metres. Population: 30 inhabitants. Distinctive feature: Juf is recognised as the highest year-round inhabited village in Switzerland, and quite possibly in Europe. Infrastructure: An inn and a tourist camp, ideal bases for setting off on hikes or ski tours whatever the season. #### Activities in Juf Juf is a popular spot both in summer and winter, for hiking and skiing enthusiasts alike, offering a welcoming environment and appealing trailheads.
