A bit of history
Saint Rupert (c. 650–710) founded St Peter's Abbey in Salzburg and evangelized the Bavarian duchy. The Way of St James (pilgrim route to Santiago) and the Rupertiweg share a common corridor in Bavaria, as pilgrims from Austria and Bohemia used both routes.
Getting there
Salzburg: international airport and train station (Munich 1h30, Vienna 2h30). Passau: train station (Munich 1h30, Linz 1h). Bus and train connections between the stage towns.

Best season
April to October. Spring is beautiful with apple blossom in the Inn valley.
