Ochsenbergalpe
The place
Alpine pasture and hiking stop located at about 996 m in the Westallgäu, in the hills of the municipality of Oberstaufen (Bavarian Allgäu, Germany). A branch off the Oberjochstraße, similar in function and setting to the Hirschalpe near Sonthofen in the Oberallgäu: a pastoral area used for summer grazing with food service. A popular stage on the scenic Hompessenalpweg route, appreciated for its favorable effort-to-reward ratio and its sweeping views over the Vorarlberg Alps and the Allgäu. A typical Bavarian foothill (Voralpen) setting with meadows, streams, and forest edges.
Getting there
On the Hompessenalpweg, accessible from Oberstaufen. Hiking stopover with food service on site in season.
The setting
Meadows and forest edges of the Westallgäu, view over the Vorarlberg and the Allgäu.
